Time? It disappears...

I don't know where the last week went... School is back in session, spring break is over.   My mom had her cataract surgery Monday, saw my Gram, took my youngest to the allergist on Tuesday... and the rest of the week disappeared....

One Completed Top, 2 waiting for borders....  I also practised on the longarm yesterday and did some yucky feathers... having problems keeping each loop similar width.  From across the room they'd probably look good...

My Grandmother!

My Gram isn't doing well, she is nearly 96 and hasn't been doing well since a small stroke in November. She's been in the hospital since then. But today she's taken a turn for the worst. If I'm not around for a bit, I'll be taking care of my family.

15 Minute A Day
For the most part I've managed 15minutes a day quilting or sewing.  Monday I didn't get any sewing in, but I did help my daughter pin a template together and photograph some of my quilting

Swimming Lessons.... require swimsuits

Front
Back (appliqué added to cover slip of scissors!)
My youngest has been wearing 2 1-piece swim suits that are quite thread bare, and getting too SHORT... She also has a 2 piece that I recently made a new top as the fabric failed, but the bottoms have disappeared... So tonight I grabbed Jalie 2447 and made her a new pair.  I hope these fit, she needs them tomorrow!

Fully lined front, 1/2" elastic on leg openings, regular cut, yoga style waistband (my modification)

A New Quilt Started

Marcia's crafty sewing & quilting The girls and I started on our Bingo cards... My 9yo did most of the work on hers and her sisters... My youngest was only interested in choosing fabrics, handsewing and fabric paints!  Theirs is nearly done, mine requires more work!

We used interfacing, I drew a 2.5inch grid on and fused the sqaures to the interfacing.  After fusing we stitched the 1/4 inch seams.  Much faster and easier than stitching all those squares together.  I think my 9yo wants to make a bingo card for my mom!   That will be a project later in the week, after she finishes her 9th Disappearing Nine Patch block.

My Girls Bingo Cards
One on the left is finished...
one on the right needs Bingo Added
My Bingo Card - Not finished
needs batting/backing

Sew Sweetness

I started these blocks... only problem, they aren`t both the same size... I will either need to trim the larger one down, or some other setting... I think I`ll make all the blocks before trimming.

I will be making one of each block and then set them into a quilt...

One Thing, One Week Challenge

Amy's Creative Side
I did list 3 items, and got 2 of them done! Not too bad... guess I should have only chosen one item, but would I have chosen the correct one?  And I worked on another project not on my list....

Here is my completed block for Sew Happy Geek QAL

And my daughter also completed 4 blocks too on her Disappearing 9 patch:

Sewing Together

This morning my 9yo and I were sewing... She was working on a quilt for her teacher.  She is using the fabric she got from her brother for her birthday, and a couple of prints I picked up for her last week.  She is making a disappearing 9 patch quilt with 9 square in it, each strip started as 6 inches.  She has 4 blocks completed, and another 4 9-patches  ready to cut for the disappearing 9-patches.

I worked on the baby quilt (UFO #5).  I decided just to use 2 of the blocks and add another small block made from scraps... and I used the yellow, and a strip of the green polka dots.  The finished top is 37x44".  Now to make the backing...

Oh and I think its time for a new iron :( Mine seems to have developed a leak... ok its more than a leak, it might be a whole, the water comes out quite quickly. So in the past year, I have had a can opener, 2 kettles and now an iron die :(

Determining Background and Sashing Colours

Sew Happy Geek QAL

Now what colour sashing? Pink? Brown? White? I have the pink but it is nearly the same colour as those in the quilt, should it be a lighter colour? Or what about brown? I'd need to buy some... Or white?
(Fabric from Anna Griffin Carmen Collection - brown/pink colour way)

UFO #5

So which background fabric?
