One Thing, One Week Challenge

Over at Amy's Creative Side, she has started a challenge...  to set a goal and complete it in the week.

Amy's Creative Side

Here is the jacket I embroidered for my brother's girlfriend.... This project scared me as it was my first project on really stretchy fabric. And it was a RTW garment so
there was no chance of a sample! I tried on a scrap of similar fabric I have that didn't turn out great... so tried again... I'm happy with the results.

And I also worked on a skirt for a pattern review.  Sorry no photos of this ... yet (I've promised to keep the details secret for now...)

For this week (Sep 27-Oct 3)
I want to finish the quilting on the large sections of my Free Motion Quilt Along.

The free motion aspect of my quilt isn't going well.  I'm frustrated... photos to be posted later, but I did get some quilting done (using my even feet foot... not free motion)

Loveliness Dress (Ottobre 2/10 #16)

Loveliness Dress
Originally uploaded by l3designs

I needed a dress for my cousins wedding. I made this dress using a lightweight poly and lined it with a thicker weight poly (same fabric as the sash).

The dress has a side zipper, so I took out the centre back seam. I also changed the lining to remove the darts to take the bulk out of the waist.  I interfaced the bodice with some broadcloth as I didn't want to use fusible. I made a sash style belt instead of the one included in the pattern.

I made the following pattern modifications for fit:
  • lengthened bodice (for a long torso)
  • shortened above bust point on front
  • shortened skirt (I'd lengthened the bodice...)
  • tweaked dart fit

My 7yo daughter finished sewing together the Quilt along top.  Its a little narrower and one of the strips is a little thinner than the instructions said, but these were scrap fabrics and the best I could come up with!
