After entering many contests and rarely winning anything, I've won a few things recently...
Recently my name has been drawn for a few prizes... I have received some embroidery designs from Bertina Studio Birthday Bash Winners and received some beautiful designs from Bertina Studios. I can't wait to try them out....
And a while ago I won a book from
Material Mama blog giveaway. It looks interesting and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
And this week I won a contest over at I Heart that Dance Blog. Their Celtic stuff is amazing... now I need to choose my prizes... decisions, decisions... their stuff is all beautiful!
Thanks to all those who put on these contests... Once I get organized, I will probably run a few myself... unfortunately right now I am so busy with school, kids, dance, etc that sewing is falling behind... and so is blogging (and so therefore contests aren't in the picture right now) Hopefully I can be organized to run a giveaway for the next Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

And a Jester!

My son went to Cub Camp last weekend and this year they had a medieval theme. So he wanted a Jester Costume for the camp. So without a run to the fabric store, I was able to come up with some fabric. Years ago I had bought some hallowe'en print fabric that I'd made into play"silks". OK they were poly but the kids had great fun with them. One of them was Red, Grey, and White diamonds set on point which made this great simple jester costume. The sleeves and bottom were already hemmed, so I added sleeves and a neckband, by sewing an underarm seam. Then the pieces I cut off were turned into a hat. I read the Jester Hat Tutorial to make the hat. For the hat, I was limited in length by the small pieces I had left over but it made a good size for my son, and used FOE around the bottom edge.

More gifts
I have made a couple of gift bags recently. I forgot to get a photo of the one I made a week ago - another drawstring bag with a wind surfer embroidery on it. It used up some fabric I had that had foxes windsurfing on it.
This weekend I made up a small felt bag to hold a book for another friend's birthday gift.
I have been trying to do some other digitizing too and have been doing the Digital Challenge lessons from Viv at Oregon Patch Works Digi Challenge. I completed this months designs! First in a long time... This month we worked on fringe! It was a little scary cutting the bobbin thread the first time... and yes my top thread came off too... oops it didn't catch the stitches. The second worked much better.
Last week before we completed our family 5K run, under rainy skies, I decided that my daughter needed a pair of rain pants. I had some fabric - and grabbed out an Ottobre and an hour later I had a pair of rain pants for her... Ottobre 06/09 #39 - only a few modification was I lowered the CF a little, and shortened to the correct length for my daughters short legs and added elastic at the ankles!Sorry for the bad photo... its all I have -- this is from our Nature walk with Sparks
