February UFO Progress

UFO List 2 #9 Maple Leaf Block: As I'd feared, my block was missing the centre "triangle" pattern piece. The cat had pulled it out from the stack and attacked it.....

Current Status:  I have cut out the binding, and 2 more borders.  I need to pickup some solid white fabric for a narrow border, but have the rest ready to go.

Elm Street QuiltsGoal:  My goal was to figure out whether this was worth saving.  I saved it, and finished the centre block.  Hope to get it to lap size, and quilt it for my dad.   Think I'll need to find some red, black and white backing....

Finished Paper Piece  (without the Centre Block)

Created the Centre block!

Adding Borders

Now 30" square....

I am still planning on getting to the longarm. It has the UFO List 1 #6 on it! So it is ready to quilt!

January Summary

Wow! Not too many sewing days.  Spent a weekend at Girl Guide Camp with my 2 incredible units.   The weekend included sewing teddy bear kits on Friday evening, painting bags and sewing Pillowcase dresses on Saturday.   Many girls commented they wished they could have sewn more dresses!

January had its typical illnesses, dance competitions, Robbie Burns events, home renovations, etc!

I did get some sewing in, but not as much as I'd hoped.   I have many ready for the longarm, and did find the projects I committed to working on for the month.  I didn't quite make my goal, but if all goes well, I will be able to report on Feb 1st that January's goal was met.

2017 Highlights

Wow!  2017!

Tackling UFOs again..... Off to write up my UFO list!

2016 Review:
2016 didn't seem productive, but it probably was!  I didn't blog.  I didn't finish many UFOs.....

Although I did complete some major projects including a kilt, finishing the Row by Row 2016 quilt, and finishing the Facets Quilt Along quilt by Christa Watson.

2012 Project Updates

2012 Goal Review

My goals for 2012 were listed at the end of 2011.  So how did I do? First I joined my local Quilt Guild.... and then I entered one item in a Quilt Challenge at a local Quilt Store, and I entered 2 items in my Guild's Quilt Show.

  • Sew something every week
I started off well, but travel, and getting back into routine got in the way... Overall I did lots of quilting, not so much garment sewing
  • Purchase with a plan
Yes!  Most fabric was purchased with a plan.  I lost track of stash in/out but did use lots of stash fabrics
  • Learn to Longarm
    Yes! Getting better at this
  • Work on UFOs
Got 8 UFOs (5 Quilting, 3 Dancing) Completed!
  • Enjoy!
I did enjoy my sewing this year and at Christmas I only did 2 projects and I enjoyed both of them!

Current Status

I am not at home, but this is what I think the current status of all my projects from this year are....   Have a number in various stages of quilting....  Only one new project waiting on longarm...

St Patrick's Day Quilt (Another UFO Finished)

Nearly a year ago I started this quilt for St Patrick's Day.  There was little hope I'd get it done for St Patrick's Day as I started it March 16th!  A week or so later I had it basted and ready to go... and even started quilting it!  And then it sat...

So after taking my sons quilt off the longarm, I decided this one wouldn't be too difficult to finish up...  So onto the longarm it went, and then sat for a few days - the machine needed cleaning.  Now its not too difficult to clean the machine... takes me about 20min... so yesterday I finally cleaned the machine and started quilting.

Two of the 4-Leaf Clover blocks were quilted on my domestic machine, two on the longarm.  All the sashing has stitch-in-the-ditch done on my domestic machine as is the leprechaun block.  The Irish Chain blocks and outer border was completed on the longarm.

Can you tell which of these two blocks were done on the longarm?

Leprechaun Artwork Copyright Sweet Stamping Treats Designs, digitized by me (Leah @ L3 Designs).  I designed the quilt around the pot of gold fabric and the leprechaun.  The Hearts were cut out using my Accuquilt Go.

ETA: My quilt has been chosen as a finalist in the Quilting is Murder UFO Challenge.... Please head on over to vote!Quilt Challenge Save a UFO
