This week's WIP is hemming a kilt, my "little" girl keeps growing and is now 11.... I've completed 4 of 31 pleats! The buckles were also moved.   Needs to be hemmed by Saturday 9AM!  This kilt is now too short....  Oh and she needs a new jacket... so I have bought the fabric.....  BUT first comes replacing this costume with a new one... this time in blue. 

The pattern is ready.... velvet is waiting.... as is the prewashed lining.  Once the new blue costume is finished, the red one will be hemmed for her sister.

February's goals were minimally met. I finished the 2 projects that had to be done. Nothing else!

Riley Blake Modern Quilt Guild Challenge

I have been working on my Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake Challenge, and it is finished!!!

The Geese are paper pieced, and when I finished the centre block it looked like it needed some borders, but I wanted them to be just a little bit of colour splash, so I added partial borders.   Since I was nearly out of all the Charcoal, I used the scrappy border using up the rest of the Fat Eighths of the Riley Blake Challenge Fabric. 

WIP Wednesday -- MQG Riley Blake Challenge

I am working on my Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake Challenge.

Today is quilting day.  And the deadline for completing this quilt is February 17th...  I am linking up with WIP Wednesdays at Freshly Pieced.

And I've also started looking at doing Yarn Hearts for Brownies tomorrow night.  I think the instructions here might be a little difficult for the little hands, so we will be doing some cast on stitches around the wire first, and make small hearts.  If the little hands complete a small one, then they can create a second one!

My daughter got her Christmas/Birthday present.  A set of Wallace Bagpipes.... direct from Scotland, she's been patiently waiting for her set to arrive.  With her brother they got things working.  Her brother is such a great teacher... And they worked together for over 30 minutes yesterday....

Preemie Quilt Challenge

My guild had a Preemie Quilt Challenge for this month's meeting.  It was to have hearts.... but wanting to use up some dinosaur print fabric (boy's colours) it was a little more challenging....

The fabric was all flannelette from my stash and was a pain to work  with on the longarm as the flannelette seemed quite stretchy and it was 4 large blocks that were contrasting colours.... so it took work to keep the quilt SQUARE!  Which really wasn't something to be done after midnight!

The quilts were displayed at our guild meeting.... and over 50 quilts were finished for the challenge!   The quilts are donated to a local hospital Special Care Nursery for those infants needing to be in an incubator.  There are going to be some lucky little babies receiving these quilts over the next year...

I have two more quilts ready to donate, but they need binding.  A friend and I have traded, I'm going to finish quilting a quilt for her, and she will bind some of mine.  I will leave the 2 donation quilts for her.

A Lovely Year of Finishes -- February Goals....

Having met January's goal, it is now time to set February's goal.... Here is the February Linkup hosted by Fiber of all Sorts and Sew Bitter Sweet Designs.

Barbara over at Cat Patches hosts a NewFO Challenge, to start a new quilt project every month.  This past month I started two new projects.... both guild challenges.... And the projects I'm listing as my February finishing goals goals also my new projects from January.

This month I have two items that must get done for Guild Challenges... my February Valentines Donation Quilt for my local Guild Challenge, and the Riley Blake Modern Quilt Guild Challenge.

Currently they are both at the quilt top stage.  The backing is cut out, squared and ready for the hearts quilt, but the backing isn't quite ready for the Riley Blake Challenge.  I'm hoping I have enough of the fabrics leftover to piece a backing.  I have virtually NO charcoal grey left....
